For those who do not know, I teach Elementary P.E. in St. Louis, Mo. So, I got the phone call late last night that I did not have to go to work the next day, SNOW DAY!!! I thought I was going to get to sleep-in, but my internal alarm clock did not get the message. I was up at 5:00 a.m. looking out the window at 8+ inches of snow on the ground. It was a Beauiful Sea of White spread across neighborhood. I would not be able to go to the Gym in the morning.
Which brings me too Excuses. Most of my adult life I have found excuse after excuse as to why I have not done something. Whether it is going to the gym, cutting the grass, dishes, laundry, cooking, homework, go to work or school, the list is endless. I told Mary that today was going to a lazy day. I found an excuse not to do anything. I realized mid morning that I was making an excuse not to be active. I also realized that if I wanted to get out of my house I was going to have to shovel snow. Not only did I shovel snow at my house but I also shoveled snow at my mother in-laws, and a neighbors house. When I was done I realized that I got a great workout just from shoveling snow. My legs, arms, back and shoulders are a little sore.
I want to stop making excuses for not doing things. Start Seeing the Positive, Take Responsibility, Find a Solution, Stay Focused on my Goals, and Be Accountable. This journey starts with me and making excuses is no longer an option.
Talk to ya later,
Tim
