Jan 19, 2011 Obsession

What the heck is going on with my body? I have been up since 4 am this morning and unable to go back to sleep. So here it is 2:00 p.m. and I'm really tired, this is where a LARGE  44 oz. Mountain Dew would come in handy.  Or so that is what my body is thinking!  I have to have the will power to resist the temptations.  I will let you know tomorrow how that works out.
I had a great workout this morning, spent 10 minutes warming up on the treadmill followed by 35 minutes of Circuit training.  The soreness from last Saturday's Boot camp is starting to feel better.

The next scheduled weigh-in is this Saturday, I will be happy to report the results when I get home.  But here is my Problem or Obsession:  I seem to step on the scale every chance I get, whether it is first thing in the morning or right before going to bed I have to step on it. Mary, tells me I'm crazy for stepping on that scale as much as I do. What I have found out about this obsession is that when it doesn't show that I have lost any weight I feel discouraged.  but when it does I feel great, so it has its up and down moments.     I have read different passages as to when you should weigh yourself, most lean toward weighing once a week.  A healthy way to weigh yourself would be pick a time during the week and then next week wear the same thing you wore (or didn't wear) at the same time you did the week before so you can see the progress you have made from week to week.. So what I have decided to do, after Saturday's weigh-in is I'm going to weigh-in only on Saturday mornings.  Does anybody else have this Obsession? I would love to hear how often you weigh yourself!

  1. I think it is great that you have the courage to post your weight loss journey. Keep up the good work!

Mike and I get on the scales almost every day. I actually read that it is one of the 10 things thin people do to stay thin. Maybe that is the difference. It works after you lose the weight but not when you are trying to lose the weight.

  2. I had this all posted I thought....but must have lost it on the DROID, ha! But when I'm doing "good", I do weigh myself every morning. I'm trying to get back on the eating healty, exercising regularly band wagon. My rule is to not weigh at night or if I do refuse to get down about it. I learned in Weight Watchers an 8 ounce glass of fluid weighs a pound....so if you get all you fluids in a day you are supposed to....you are going to weigh heavier at night. Resist that evil temptation, ha! My husband is bad about weighing at night and getting all out of sorts about it if it doesn't say what he thinks it should! Keep up the good work. I feel motivation creeping up to me....your posts are most encouraging! : )

  3. Right now, since I am trying to lose (I just lost 10 and I have 10 more to go), my scale is in my dining room. It's tucked under a little table, so its not obvious. But I weigh myself in the morning first thing (and that's usually happy). Then once in the day. But I think I just need to do it once in the morning or once a day. I know a lot of ppl say 1X/wk, but I need more motivation to not snack. I'm home all day with my kids, so that's my hardest habit to break. Plus, I want to know! Don't be hard on yourself for failures, just take that energy and work harder to meet your goals!
